New American Battleships: Slow, big and a hard hit

Nah not really, but in a nutshell that is what it seems like for now.
So what happened here.
We are presented with a split in the tech tree for American Battleships after tier VII Colorado, with three new ships and a premium tier VII
they are Kansas, Minnesota, and Vermont, did I mention the tier VII premium Florida?
Well at first glance these ships seem to be heavy in firepower, looking at the Alpha damage, but with a 40 second reload this will be a difficulty to make a difference in the game. And this even comes with a cost of low survivability with its slow speed and thin armor. Ok, so you like to stay at range and shoot things with big guns? [once every 40 seconds]
Then you are in luck my friend with these ships, for now, it does not seem to be a ship you can play alone, and it does not look like you can defend a flank, but maybe in there is its strength. You will have to play in division or teams. Then when coordinating, you have enough time to decide where to shoot next, you can make a good play with cruisers alongside to help you upcoming subs and planes. Oh shit, torpedos incoming!
But now laying there with your big ship alone waiting for others to help, spamming the "support that ship" for yourself, the enemy did get a lock on your position, and now here comes the party, you as a battleship feel how it's like when a carrier is in the spotlight.
Shells coming in from everywhere as you will be a nice juicy target, yeah that's life for a big American battleship. Now you know why you have 9 ports to choose from!
but then that hopeful message from the dev blog itself.
